The failure of President Barack Obama to reach an agreement with Russian leader Vladimir Putin over the future of Syria is more of the same, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Monday.
Despite months of diplomatic efforts to set the stage for some sort of concession, the two leaders’ face to face meeting at the G20 summit in China resulted in no such agreement. An image of the men’s stone-faced exchange on Monday bespoke Obama’s lack of success.
Trump, a long-time critic of Obama’s foreign policy, tweeted his reaction to the situation:
President Obama & Putin fail to reach deal on Syria – so what else is new? Obama is not a natural deal maker. Only makes bad deals!

“Our foreign policy is a complete and total disaster,” Trump said during his foreign policy address in April. “No vision, no purpose, no direction, no strategy.”
